Food Allergies & Special Diets
Departments
Ensuring the safety of students is our top priority, and this extends to food safety as well. Many students have allergies that require specific precautions to protect their well-being. In accordance with USDA guidelines, schools are required to provide safe meal alternatives for students with life-threatening food allergies. The State of Iowa mandates that a completed Diet Modification Request Form be submitted to the nutrition department, signed by both the student’s parent and physician. This form offers important details about foods to avoid and suitable substitutes for managing the allergy. Completed forms should be turned into the attending school’s main office.
